For my pre-internship, I taught ELA 20 for the full three-week block, and I had one student in the modified ELA 21 program. I go into more detail about that experience in the “Differentiation” attachment. As well, I assisted in a tutorial classroom and got to observe some EAL classes. It was a wonderful experience that taught me so much about teaching practices, and about myself. I learned what kind of teacher I want to be. In the short time that I was there, I formed amazing bonds with some of my students, and I am looking forward to doing the same during my internship in the fall.
Attached is a unit plan that I implemented during my placement. This mini-unit, centered around the “Beginning and Becoming” module in ELA 20, is one that I plan to use again when possible.
